Going Beyond Net Zero (Webinar 2)

Leading the Way in the Public Sector

On 22 June, we held the second in a series of joint webinars with Zero Waste Scotland on planning for Net Zero in the public sector. This webinar focussed on delivering net zero with a particular emphasis on procurement and the circular economy. The session builds on the first joint webinar, held on 6 May 2020.

Net Zero Plan

Following the publication of Zero Waste Scotland’s Net Zero Plan on 8th June, Fraser Millar, Environment Analyst, provided a brief update on the progress with implementing the plan, including the development of a new carbon calculator and a commuting footprint tool (COCA), which is currently underway. Once complete, members will be able to access this free tool.

Sustainable Procurement

We also welcomed Claire Guerin, Sector Manager - Sustainable Procurement at Zero Waste Scotland. Claire explored how circular procurement can support a green recovery transition by:

- building resilient supply chains;

- increasing demand for shorter, more localised supply chains; and

- stimulating circular (and innovative) products and services.
