Women in Sustainability (WINS) exists to help women flourish in careers that are building a sustainable world. WINS currently operates in eight places across the UK with new Hubs popping up across Scotland.
The newly established Glasgow hub held a taster event in May this year, led by hub lead, Katy Murdoch. The theme of the evening was, ‘How to Grow Your Sustainability Career’. There were three guest speakers who told us about their route into sustainability including, SSN member Victoria Barby who shared some fantastic advice from her varied career spanning, RBS, Edinburgh Airport and her current role at Scottish Parliament. The event was a resounding success, with plenty of time for sharing stories and strategies. WINS founder Rhian Sherington said,
‘I’m delighted to see such positive response Katy has received in Glasgow for a new WINS Hub to get established…..it is great to take time out of our busy schedules for vital reflection within a safe space that allows us to voice our concerns as well as explore solutions.’
The next WINS Glasgow event will focus on both progressing and being heard in our work in order to embed sustainability within organisations. WINS Hubs are expanding with an Aberdeen Hub launched in June and Edinburgh due to launch in September.
