Does your organisation have a project or initiative that deserves recognition? VIBES is an opportunity for public bodies to share their sustainability success stories.
Now in their 20th year, the Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) Awards are welcoming applications for 2019. The Awards continue to celebrate the achievements of organisations across Scotland who demonstrate best environmental practice. The awards aim to encourage the efficient use of resources, enhance competitiveness, improve environmental performance and support the wider goals of sustainable development including social benefits through community and staff involvement.
This year, VIBES offers 11 award categories. Public sector organisations can apply for two of them:
This award recognises a ‘green team’ or dedicated task force that channels ideas and energy into delivering positive environmental and sustainable changes within an organisation or community. To apply for this award, you must demonstrate the importance of engagement in delivering environmental improvements.
This award recognises partnership working to help enable improved environmental performance. Organisations who demonstrate the importance of partnerships in improving their overall contribution to sustainable development should apply. To be successful your organisation must be involved in a partnership with another business or organisation in the public, private or voluntary sector.
Public sector recognition at VIBES 2018
In 2018, Aberdeen City Council Countryside Ranger Service won the commendation for the Climate Adaptation Award. They were commended by the judges for their commitment, strong social engagement and knowledge sharing.
Aberdeen City Council Operational Delivery Convener, Councillor John Wheeler commented:

Receiving commendation for the Climate Adaptation award is a real testament to the hard work and commitment from everyone at Aberdeen City Council towards reducing our impact on the environment. The Awards are a fantastic way to find out about what other businesses and organisations are doing and share best practice amongst a like-minded community that too want to improve their operations while benefitting the environment and it is hoped that others are inspired to follow suit."
