The Scottish Government has produced updated guidance for public bodies on offsetting and insetting
The new guidance, entitled Public Bodies and Climate Change Duties – Guidance on nature-based carbon reduction projects (insetting and offsetting) and annual public bodies duties reporting, is a supplement to the Public Sector Leadership on the Global Climate Emergency guidance published in October 2021.
The new guidance provides definitions for offsetting and insetting, sets out a range of policy principles and practices, and provides links to related policies and guidance.
Public bodies are encouraged to use this guidance to inform their work on offsetting and insetting relating to their net zero strategies and action plans.
