Working together to build climate-resilient, health and equitable places

A briefing for local government and partners has been developed by Public Health Scotland, Adaptation Scotland and the Improvement Service to complement other place-based policy and practice, which seek to promote health, equity and sustainability. It aims to increase awareness of how climate change and adaptation responses can affect health and health inequalities. It also sets out evidence-based public health principles that support a whole-system approach to achieve climate resilience, health and equity. These principles can be used to inform ways of working at a local level so that actions contribute to improved health and equity alongside climate resilience. Read more.

Better Places - A position statement on behalf of the Scottish Public Health System

PHS has published a position statement on behalf of the Scottish Public Health System. It sets out priority actions that focus on improving processes and implementing policies to develop a place-based approach to deliver better places. Read more.

Outdoor air pollution

PHS Environmental Public Health team’s programme of work on outdoor air pollution aims to increase public and professional awareness of air pollution and the health risks to help ensure that good air quality is systematically considered an important prerequisite for population health.
