Climate Resilient Economic Development Workshop (Local Authority)

Local authority workshop

Climate resilience will be crucial to ensure the future security and prosperity of Scotland’s economy, with climate change already costing billions of pounds per year. Scotland's most disadvantaged people and communities will be disproportionately affected by climate change, widening existing inequalities. Our responses to climate change can protect and improve population health, wellbeing, and reduce inequalities.

SSN is working together with the Scottish Government, COSLA, the Improvement Service, the Adaptation Scotland programme (delivered by Sniffer), SLAED (the Scottish Local Authority Economic Development Group), and Edinburgh Climate Change Institute to progress support on the intersection of climate change, economic development, just transition and local government.

We are holding a workshop on Climate Resilient Economic Development from 14.00-15.30 on Tuesday 30th April. This event will bring together economic development and climate change professionals in local authorities to discuss how Scotland can adapt and build resilience to the impacts of climate change. It will also provide members with the opportunity to discuss and contribute to the draft Scottish National Adaptation Plan 2024-2029 (SNAP3) consultation, as well as identify opportunities for further collaboration and capacity building.

This workshop will focus on our approach to:

  • supporting a climate resilient economy
  • supporting a just transition for a well-adapted Scotland.

Further details about the workshop and how to sign up are available here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/climate-resilient-economic-development-tickets-873067708017?aff=oddtdtcreator.
