The Scottish Qualifications Authority

The Scottish Qualifications Authority is the executive non-departmental public body of the Scottish Government responsible for accrediting educational awards. It recognises the global climate emergency and is committed to playing its part in Scotland’s national endeavour to end our contribution to climate change within a generation. To ensure the Scottish Qualifications Authority contributes to public sector leadership in this effort, we have adopted the following minimum targets and dates:

¨ Achieve net-zero emissions across our direct Scope 1 emissions, and indirect Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions by 2045.

¨ Ensure adaptation to the impacts of climate change alongside our efforts to reduce our emissions as far as we can, as fast as we can.

¨ We recognise that some sources are outwith our control, but we aim to exert a positive influence where it is in our control.

¨ We are currently working to bring our emissions to net-zero as far as possible, without the use of carbon offsetting.
