Sauchiehall Street Avenue

Transforming Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street

The Sauchiehall Street Avenue has been the pilot project of Glasgow City Council’s (GCC) ambitious £115milion City Region Deal funded programme, the “Avenues”. The Avenues, also known as the Enabling Infrastructure – Integrated Public Realm (EIIPR) programme, is a place-making scheme that aims to transform seventeen key city centre streets in Glasgow into exemplars of sustainable infrastructure. The programme will facilitate and encourage active travel and mitigate the effects of climate change whilst also ensuring economic benefits. The improvements are designed to rebalance traffic modes, introduce green and SMART infrastructure, and ensure people are at the heart of the project vision and design strategy.
