New SSN/IS Partnership to Improve Support to the Public Sector
The Improvement Service (IS) and the Sustainable Scotland Network (SSN) have come together to align priorities and resources to improve support to Scotland’s public sector bodies in tackling climate change.
The SSN Secretariat and the Improvement Service have been working closely over the past 18 months to deliver a range of support including briefings, workshops and research. Over the summer the Improvement Service’s Climate Change Transformation Manager will work part-time in the SSN Secretariat to develop this activity, supporting a number of strategic projects including the SSN Local Authority Forum, the Climate Emergency Leaders Checklist, various Officer Working Groups, enhanced data analysis, and developing the SSN online Net Zero manual.
Judi Kilgallon, Climate Change Transformation Manager at the Improvement Service explains:
“Collaboration is key to tackling climate change. We have already been working closely with the SSN secretariat and the network itself to deliver practical and relevant support to councils. We are delighted to be implementing this partnership and look forward to continuing to develop our relationship with SSN, COSLA and SOLACE to ensure officers and Elected Members get the support they need to deliver Net Zero.”
George Tarvit, Director of SSN said:
“SSN is all about collaborating to succeed, and I am delighted that we have the opportunity to deepen collaboration between the SSN Secretariat and the Improvement Service. Judi Kilgallon will bring important skills and experience to the SSN team at an important time, while allowing us to make better use of our limited resources to improve support to SSN members and public sector organisations throughout Scotland. This is an excellent example of collaboration to improve impact, designed to provide better support to SSN members and their colleagues in local government and the wider public sector”.
The IS Climate Change Transformation Manager joined the SSN Secretariat on 1st July and the initial phase of this new partnership will run through to the end of September.
