Capacity-building stories: Sustainable Scotland Network

24 November 2020

Earlier this month, Kathryn Dapré, the chair of SSN and George Tarvit, the Director of the SSN secretariat took part in the Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB) Network stories series.

The Capacity-building Stories project aims to collect and showcase examples of capacity-building efforts to tackle climate change. Kathryn and George sat down with the PCCB Network for the fourth story of the project, to answer a few questions about SSN capacity-building efforts, activities, and vision in Scotland.

"We provide support and advice on a whole range of issues related to climate action, planning your climate change approach, understanding the policy landscape, planning and devising projects. A huge amount of work in terms of sharing knowledge across the membership and enabling members at the coal face of climate change action to also link with wider activities. We do a lot of work around networking the networks, engaging with leaders and to create a bridge with policymakers". George Tarvit, Project Director

“We were delighted to profile SSN as part of the Paris Committee on Capacity Building Network’s story sharing series. PCCB Network heard about our work due to the University of Edinburgh being a member of the PCCB Network. Impressed with the new SSN Strategy, PCCB Network invited us to participate in their video case study series. With a year to COP26, this was a great opportunity to reach out to the UN’s climate change capacity building community . We look forward to further opportunities to collaborate with international networks and organisations working to accelerate climate action.” George Tarvit, Project Director, SSN
