Climate Change Committee integrating nature recovery with climate change action – what does this mean for the private sector?
Join Dr Niki Rust, Head of Nature, Agriculture & Land at the UK Climate Change Committee, who will talk us through how the Climate Change Committee have successfully integrated nature into their climate work and what that means for UK businesses.
Niki will then go into how the CCC developed a monitoring framework, science-based targets and metrics, and how that can translate to the private sector.
Dr Niki Rust heads up the Land, Agriculture and Nature team at the Climate Change Committee. Niki is an environmental sustainability leader, having worked on the interface between nature, agriculture and climate for the last 15 years, both domestically and internationally.
Prior to coming to the CCC, she worked on nature and agricultural policy and analyses at Defra and the Food Standards Agency. She has also researched and taught at Newcastle University on sustainable land and agricultural topics and worked at environmental NGOs on nature recovery implementation and evaluation.
Her PhD was on how to improve land management in developing countries to benefit wildlife, climate, livelihoods and food security.
