Secretariat team

The SSN team are based at ECCI and manage the Network services and associated programme of work

In May 2018 the SSN secretariat was awarded to the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI) and Sniffer, a charity focused on climate adaptation and also based at ECCI. ECCI and Sniffer’s ambitious approach to developing the network is helping connect climate change action across Scotland’s public sector with a wider audience of decision makers. Enhancing and growing the strong capacity-building, training, knowledge exchange and peer-to-peer opportunities offered by the SSN.

Director

George joined ECCI in May 2018 to lead our work on the Sustainable Scotland Network (SSN). Before joining ECCI George managed the SSN and a range of sustainability and climate change initiatives at Keep Scotland Beautiful. He has experience of climate change policy, carbon accounting, public sector climate change reporting, managing events and communications, and working with a wide range of organisations to support public sector action on climate change and sustainable development. Prior to leading SSN George worked for Oxfam as Trade Campaign Manager, before taking up post as Oxfam Scotland’s Parliamentary Liaison Officer. George has a degree in Community Studies.

Catherine Pearce

Capacity Building Manager

Catherine Pearce is Capacity Building Manager with the Sustainable Scotland Network. Catherine previously led the Future Justice programme with the World Future Council where she focused on initiatives to secure the needs of future generations. Her work looked at establishing dedicated institutions and legal mechanisms to bring long-term needs and intergenerational justice principles into present day policy. She has extensive experience of working with governments and parliaments around the world. Catherine has an established background on climate and energy policy, at national, EU and international levels.

Network Engagement Officer

Jenny joined the Sustainable Scotland Network team in August 2018 as a Engagement Officer. Before joining the team, Jenny was a Senior Policy Officer (Sustainability) at the City of Edinburgh Council. She has experience of public sector climate change reporting, project management, and policy development and implementation. Jenny has collaborated with a wide range of disciplines and organisations raising awareness of sustainability and climate change. Prior to joining the City of Edinburgh Council Jenny worked for Midlothian Council. Jenny has a degree in Environmental Science.

Data & Network Engagement Officer

June joined ECCI in May 2018 as part of the Sustainable Scotland Network team. Her role includes supporting members to take action on emissions reduction and sustainability. She also supports Scotland's public bodies to report on their duties in relation to climate change, adaptation and sustainability and leads analysis of the reporting data. Previous roles include coordinating trans-European projects on urban sustainability research and practice, managing environmental research programmes and developing water environment regulatory frameworks. June has worked for Sniffer, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency and the Environment Agency, Wales. She has Masters in oceanography and environmental resources.

Siobhan Dunn

Communications Director

Siobhan manages communications for the Sustainable Scotland Network. Before joining the SSN secretariat, she managed communications and then the secretariat team for Scotland’s 2020 Climate Group. Siobhan joined ECCI in 2014 to lead communications and marketing for the Smart Accelerator project. Siobhan has a strong track record in sustainability communications and business engagement. She has expertise in digital and social media marketing and strategy and stakeholder engagement. An experienced communications strategist and project manager, she has led private, public and third sector campaigns as a Senior Account Director working with leading UK clients. She has a degree in Philosophy and History of Art.

Lucy Crockert

Project Administrator

Lucy is an experienced project coordinator and administrator with a demonstrated history of working in non-profit organisations and the event management industry. Skilled in sustainability, business development, strategic and digital marketing and event management, Lucy coordinates project management and administration and supports programme delivery. Prior to joining the SSN team, Lucy worked as project programme manager at Bright Green Business where she managed the Bright Green Business Network and Environmental Placement Programme. Lucy has expertise in environmental sustainability, marketing and communications, project management and development. Lucy has a degree in Business Management from Queen Margaret University.
